Tell us a bit about yourself! What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I am a father to two beautiful daughters and am married to a wonderful woman. I always cherish my family and am also proud of my faith as a Christian. Some of my hobbies are playing soccer, watching soccer leagues, and playing basketball during my free time.
Can you describe a memorable moment you've had with a client?
Some of my best moments in caregiving are when my clients feel safe around me, restoring that balance and trust again. Most importantly, helping them regaining their independence and putting a big smile on their faces makes me feel accomplished.
How long have you been working as a caregiver, and why did you choose Decena Home Care?
I have been working with Decena for over two years now. Decena is the first company I started working for when I relocated to the United States, and I am grateful to be working for them. There’s no place else I’d rather be in the healthcare system than Decena. These are wonderful people, they give everything to ensure their employees succeed. I am so blessed to have known them this much.
What made you become a caregiver?
I chose to become a caregiver because of my passion for this job. Helping people is one of the things I enjoy doing the most.
What is your approach to respecting a client's independence while also ensuring their well-being?
My approach to caregiving is simple: focus on restoring their confidence and regaining their independence. I try to understand my clients' likes and dislikes, helping them as much as I can to earn their trust. When they feel safe around me, they tend to like me and become closer.
