World Elder Abuse Awareness Day History World Elder Abuse Awareness Day aims to spread acknowledgement about an issue that does not have the visibility that it should, elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. According to the Administration for Community Living, older Americans lose over $36.5 billion dollars per year because of financial abuse. The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was first observed in 2006, since then, the day has been celebrated yearly on June 15th.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Facts & Quotes According to the National Council on Aging, one in 10 Americans aged 60+ experience some form of abuse, while one in 24 cases of abuse are reported to authorities. It is estimated that by 2050, the world’s population of people over the age of 60 will double.
