World Elder Abuse Awareness Day aims to spread acknowledgement about an issue that does not have the visibility that it should, elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. According to the Administration for Community Living, older Americans lose over $36.5 billion dollars per year because of financial abuse. The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was first observed in 2006, since then, the day has been celebrated yearly on June 15th.
